How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit — many people come to therapy for personal growth, support through life transitions, or to strengthen their relationships. A free consultation is a low-pressure way to explore whether it's a good fit.

What happens during the free consultation?

The free initial consultation is a relaxed conversation where you can ask questions, share a bit about what's bringing you to therapy, and get a feel for how I work. There's no obligation — it's simply a chance for us both to see if we're a good match.

Do you offer online or in-person sessions?

All sessions are held via telehealth, which means you can meet with me from anywhere in California. I primarily serve clients in Santa Cruz County — including Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Capitola, Aptos, Soquel, and Watsonville — but telehealth makes therapy accessible across the entire state.

How long is each session and how often will we meet?

Session length is discussed during the consultation. Most clients begin with weekly sessions, though we'll collaborate on a schedule that fits your needs, goals, and life circumstances. Frequency can always be adjusted over time.

What are your fees and do you take insurance?

Accepted Answer

Please reach out for current session rates. As an LMFT Trainee practicing under supervision, I'm able to offer services at reduced rates compared to licensed clinicians. I'm not in-network with insurance, but I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes — confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy, and everything you share is protected by law. There are a few rare legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse), which I'll explain clearly in our first session. Please note: the contact form on this site is not for confidential clinical information — we'll find a private way to talk.

What does 'LMFT Trainee' mean?

It means I have completed my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and am completing the supervised clinical hours required for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I work under the close supervision of a licensed clinician, so you benefit from both my training and my supervisor's oversight.

What is couples counseling like?

Couples counseling provides a supportive, structured space to improve communication, resolve conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional intimacy. Both partners are active participants in the process.

How long will I be in therapy?

There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people find meaningful relief in a few months, while others choose to work together longer-term for deeper growth. We'll regularly check in on your progress and goals, and you're always in control of how long you continue.
